Eli a été tué le matin du 7 octobre près de la moshav Lane lors d'une confrontation avec des terroristes, deux semaines avant son 21e anniversaire. Il était commandant d'escouade chez les Parachutistes, et il est allé dans l'enveloppe nord avec les premières forces qui ont sauté sur le champ de bataille ce samedi noir.

"Je vais accomplir ce que j'ai juré il y a deux ans et deux mois... "J'ai dit à sa mère quelques minutes avant qu'ils ne se séparent pour la dernière fois "

Son ami Maayan, qui s'est battu avec lui épaule contre épaule, a dit dans ses derniers instants : « Nous étions trois combattants. " Nous avons fait une descente sur trois citoyens. Nous avons lutté contre six terroristes qui ont tiré et lancé des grenades.
